The latest technology for conferences…

Last week, I helped to support the largest professional oncology meeting in the world- ASCO.

Above is the YouTube video that I produced-  a brief video showcasing all of these innovations!  I put this together informally to showcase and record these developments.

Here are some details on the products that Astute constructed software to support ASCO 010:
•  Registrar’s Office- for tracking continuing education

•  ASCO University – for providing continuing education online

•  ePosters- providing high resolution searchable ePosters with zoom and email a presenter options

•  Paperless Proceedings and Education Book– these books were almost the size of a typical phone directory- now available as a read-only  ‘credit card style’ USB stick

•  Enhanced Virtual Meeting software with real-time generation of thumbnails and support for onsite kiosks — making use of the newest Conference.CAST(R) software from Astute

• Oncology Slide Library- a slide library which enables the provision of a subscription service in which end-users can search and download oncology images (e.g.,  figures from journal articles, meeting slides, and web graphics).

Note some additional products depicted in the video- including ASCO TV- available on the buses used for transport to and from the hotel, the hotel TV and within the convention center

The use of an iPhone, Blackberry, Droid app which enables the use of a printed symbol in the ASCO daily news that is ‘electronically connected to a YouTube excerpt- by simply using the camera in the cell phone- and then the app brings up the conference segment in YouTube’  (making use of Astute Conference.CAST technology) to provide daily highlights from the conference

All of these products where launched at the ASCO 010 meeting and were enthusiastically received by the Oncology community.

During the conference,  I spoke to several Oncologists — from all over the world who are extremely grateful that these educational opportunities exist to better educate themselves and their colleagues on the latest cancer diagnostics and therapeutics!
