Jon Merril is the CEO of Astute Technology. The Astute mission is to provide the most compelling rich media tools to build and augment existing communities. I work with associations, non-profits, corporations and provide an exciting rich media platform for disseminating and adding value to information so that it can be transformed into knowledge.
My background started with a passion for animation, computer programming, interactive 3D graphics and film production. I also have always been interested in the sciences and completed my MD (medical doctor) degree.
Coupling these interests, I have built several successful technology companies in areas of medical procedure simulation, conference media streaming and platforms for the next generation of on-line learning.
Basically, I have learned how to successfully transform ideas into enterprises in the educational tech space.
I have worked with some of the greatest technologies from Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Immersion Corporation to create media and simulations and have published about 50 articles and book chapters on educational technology, simulation and media production. I have also been interviewed on topic of educational technology on CNN, NY Times, Boston Globe and several other US and International publications and networks.
